Family Doctors in British Columbia
I have read an article saying that family practitioners in BC are quite unhappy with the medical care system and pay they get. Apparently most of doctors get $30 per patient visit. This would explain why my family doctor keeps going like crazy and each visit is 15 minutes max. Sometimes I cannot discuss all my issues as he runs out of time. Do you have similar experience?
Definitely there should be something done about this. We deserve better.
On the other hand I did not see poop family doctor. Can you explain ho it really works? Another thing is their responsibility. They do basic tests and if they discover something disturbing they refer you to a specialist.
We may think that $30 is not enough but is it really true. Let's do the math. 1 patient every 15 min for 8 hours a day. It gives you $960 per day for their service. Is it good or bad?
What do you think about it.
I guess it all depends on a family doctor. I have great one that takes his time if it is necessary and is very compassionate. Also he never limits a visit time to 15 minutes.
Anyways I think that good doctors (they should prove it by all their actions) should make good money and opposite like everywhere else.
Referring to your example, $1000 per day sounds pretty sweet. I would take it.

I do not know how it works but I do not have a family doctor. Everything I have health issues I have to go to a walking clinic. I meet different doctors and people and I have a weird feeling that I am just a number for them or better $. Government should definitely change this situation.
There are good and bad people everywhere. It is exactly the same in case of family doctors. We can't generalize that all are bad. It is not true. I think that we all should be thankful. We live in pandemic times. These people often risk their lives to help other people and patients including those who do not care about anything and were against masks and vaccination. I know that our health care system has lots of flaws but nothing is perfect in real world. It is hard to make everyone happy but the government should keep trying.
I am thankful to my family doctor. She is really great person. Cheers.
